Introducing Tod!

This week, actually 4 days ago to be correct, we welcomed a new member in our family... his name is Tod and he is a young male European cat about 10 months old. My daughter, Sara, found him in the property grounds of the Art gallery/museum where she works ... since nobody claimed him she asked me if we would welcome it in the family. I have always said "NO" to having animals in an apartment but after my daughter's pleading and knowing he had been attacked by another cat and needed medication I could not refuse and so I surrendered.
What do you think ... have I done wrong?

Questa settimana, esattamente 4 giorni fa, abbiamo accolto un nuovo membro nella nostra famiglia... si chiama Tod , è un giovane gatto europeo di circa 10 mesi. Mia figlia, Sara, lo ha trovato nei giardini della Pinecoteca/museo dove lavora ... visto che nessuno lo riclamava mi ha chiesto se poteva portarlo a casa. Io ho sempre detto"NO" a tenere animali in un alloggio ma dopo le suppliche di mia figlia e sapendo che era stato aggredito da un altro gatto e aveva bisogno di cure non potevo più rifiutare e così mi sono arresa.
Cosa pensate ... ho fatto male?

He's a very tame cat and has taken very well to his new surroundings. At the moment he is on antibiotics ... the vet found he was running a high temperature because of his wounded paw but he is on the way to recovery. He has no other health problems except for being underweight but we are taking care of that too.

E' un gatto bravissimo e si è subito ambientato. Al momento lo stiamo curando con degli antibiotici... il veterinario ha scoperto che aveva la febbre alta a causa della zampa ferita ma è gia sulla via della guarigione. Non ha altri problemi di salute, ad eccezione di essere sottopeso, ma rimedieremo anche a quello.

Mother of Thousands

I haven't been crafting these days because the hot weather has totally knocked me out, it seems all I want to do lately is sit infront of an electric fan or just sleep. I haven't much to post but I cannot bear to see my blog at a standstill. Having little to do I went through my archives and found one post which reminded me of a particular subject and so I decided to get back to the subject treated in that old post ... click here to understand what I'm talking about.
Now if you have read that old post just take a look at the plant as it is today after nearly a year...

Non ho nuovi lavori questi giorni perchè il caldo mi butta giù, sembra che l'unica cosa che voglio fare è stare davanti al ventilatore o dormire. Non ho molto da aggiungere ma non sopporto di vedere il mio blog ad un punto morto allora ho fatto un giro nel mio archivio e ho trovato un post che mi ha ricordato una cosa in particolare e così ho deciso di tornare sul soggetto trattato in quel vecchio post ... cliccate qui per capire di cosa parlo.

I still think of home when I look at it, and makes me sigh.
I made a thorough search and found out it is called Kalancheo Daigremontiana (botanical name). It is better known as - Mother of thousands or Devil's backbone.
I also found out the origins of this plant - Madagascar.
Unfortunately its only flaw ... it is very poisionious.

Quando la guardo penso ancora a casa. Ho fatto una ricerca approfondita e ho scoperto che si chiama Kalancheo Daigremontiana (nome botanico).
E' meglio conosciuta con il nome - Mother of thousands o Devil's backbone.
Ho anche scoperto che è una pianta originaria del Madagascar.
Sfortunatamente il suo unico difetto ... è velenosa.

... i vestiti degli uomini (giacche, camicie e cappotti) hanno i bottoni sulla destra e quelli delle donne invece sulla sinistra?
Per chi usa la destra - la maggioranza - è più facile infilare da destra i bottoni nelle asole fatte a sinistra. Ecco perchè gli uomini hanno i bottoni a destra. All' inizio i bottoni erano costosi, e li portavano sopratutto i ricchi. Le donne benestanti erano di solito vestite dalle cameriere. Siamo sempre pronti per nuove tendenze ma alcuni vecchi costumi vanno ancora forte!

Hubby plays cook .... Marito cuoco

I don't know about your husbands but my hubby loves to play cook sometimes. Here's something he makes very well ... it is an Italian sauce called "Bagnetto verde piemontese" "Parsley sauce" in english. I enjoyed taking these pictures while he was busy in the preparation. This sauce can be used on toasted bread loaf slices (bruschetta) but is usually used with meat dishes.
Here's the recipe:

INGREDIENTS
I garlic clove
30gr. parsley ( only the leaves)
2 to 4 anchovies
50gr of bread ( bread crumbs)
White vinegar
Olive oil

PREPARATION
In a small bowl soften bread in vinegar, stirring to help bread absorb vinegar. In a food processor blend together bread mixture with remaining ingredients except oil. With motor running add oil in a stream and blend sauce well. Season sauce with salt but taste first, remember that the anchovies are already salty.
Sauce may be made 1 day ahead and chilled, covered.

You can add some capers or a hard boiled egg yolk crumbled but this is up to your choice. We usually add some capers.
My husband prefers to use the crescent shaped chopping knife instead of a food processor , naturally it takes a little bit longer to prepare but I can assure you the result is much better.

Non so se i vostri mariti sono come il mio... a lui piace fare il cuoco qualche volta. Ecco qualcosa che fa molto bene, il Bagnetto verde piemontese (Bagnet verd). Mi sono divertita a fare queste foto mentre lui era immerso nella preparazione. Questa salsa è indicata per accompagnare il bollito piemontese ma noi la usiamo anche sulla bruschetta. Ecco la ricetta:

INGREDIENTI
1 spicchio d'aglio
30 gr prezzemolo ( solo le foglie)
da 2 a 4 acciughe
50gr di mollica di pane raffermo
Aceto di vino bianco
Olio extra-vergine d'oliva.

PREPARAZIONE
Con la mezza luna trittate finemente lo spicchio d’aglio, il prezzemolo (circa 30 g), e le acciughe. Aggiungete la mollica di pane raffermo ammollata in aceto di vino . Amalgamate il tutto aggiungendo olio di oliva a filo, sempre mescolando fino a ottenere un composto cremoso. Assaggiate e aggiustate di sale ricordando che ci sono già le acciughe. Potete preparare questa salsa un giorno prima e tenere in frigo in un recipiente con coperchio.

Si possono aggiungere dei capperi o un uovo sodo sbriciolato secondo ai vostri gusti, noi aggungiamo soltanto dei capperi.

Sacred Mount of Oropa - Sacro Monte di Oropa

This blog was mainly meant to be a collection of my crafts and printables but as the months rolled by I have added posts with different subjects that had nothing in common to crafts , so ... here I am again with one of these totally different posts , maybe more interesting than crafts to many.
Yesterday, my husband, my son and I spent a wonderful day on the beautiful Mount Oropa.
Even if the weather wasn't at its best we still managed to have a nice excursion. Our day started with a morning visit to the Sanctuary dedicated to Our Lady Of Oropa and later on, in the afternoon, we had a wonderful stroll in the "Parco Della Rimembranza" ( WarMemorial Park) which is located at the foot of the Mount Oropa. My son enjoyed taking these pictures which I in turn enjoyed making into a slideshow. Just as we were about to leave the park it started raining and who has a good knowledge of mountains knows how dangerous a storm can be in these areas so we had to hurry back to the Sanctuary, all wet but happy ... anyway here 's the slideshow ... enjoy!
In the haste to post this slideshow I wrote some titles in English and others in Italian.

Questo blog era principalmente destinato ad essere una collezione dei miei lavori e dei miei printables ma con il passar dei mesi ho aggiunto posts con diversi soggetti e che non avevano nulla in comune con i crafts, allora ... eccomi di nuovo qui con uno di questi posts totalmente diverso, forse anche più interessante per molti di voi.
Ieri, mio marito, mio figlio ed io abbiamo trascorso una bella giornata sul bellissimo Monte di Oropa.
Anche se il tempo non era bello siamo ancora riusciti a fare una bella escursione. La nostra giornata è iniziata con una visita al Santuario dedicato alla Madonna di Oropa e poi nel pomeriggio abbiamo fatto una meravigliosa passeggiata nel "Parco della Rimembranza" che si trova ai piedi del Monte di Oropa.
Mio figlio si è divertito a fare queste foto che io ho raggruppato in uno slideshow. Quando eravamo al punto di lasciare il parco ha iniziato a piovere e chi ha una buona conoscenza della montagna sa quanto può essere pericoloso un temporale a queste quote così siamo ritornati di corsa al Santuario, bagnati ma contenti, ... comunque ecco a voi lo slideshow.
Nella fretta di pubblicare questo slideshow ho scritto alcuni titoli in inglese e altri in italiano.

Chart/Pattern

Now that my Blog Candy is over, here I am back to my crafts ... I had already posted a picture of this work showing the first stage ... now here are the pictures of the finished item ... a stitchery banner. I made this for an online friend ... I know she has a cat and loves animals.... but I won't say anymore or I might spoil the surprise for her if she comes over for a visit to my blog.
