This is the last weekend of 2011 and therefore the above is my last weekend shadow picture for this year .

I chose a subject that has to do with time since we will soon start the countdown to a new year.

A " Last Minute" Christmas Gift : Soap Petals -- Petali di sapone

This is something I saw on the internet a while back, and I thought it was a cute gift idea and as I usually always end up having to prepare a last minute gift for somebody during these holidays, I thought to try this out in case such an emergency cropped up.

I found the instructions to make these petals at Heart, Hands, Home.

Silk roses are ideal for creating these small petal soaps that are meant to be used only once.
After a soap petal has been used once, you simply throw the silk petal away. These are great for gifts or to use as guests soaps or to just gather in a dish and display as a decorative accent for the bathroom.
I also found this cute rhyme which would do just fine on a tag with this little gift.
To wrap my soap petals up I chose an organza bag.

"Pick a petal from the dish

Close your eyes and make a wish.

Wash your hands and toss away,

May all your dreams come true today!"

 Questo è qualcosa che ho visto su internet un po' di tempo fa, e ho pensato che fosse un'idea regalo molto carina e visto che di solito finisco sempre con dover preparare un regalo all'ultimo minuto , ho pensato di provare questo in caso di una tale emergenza.

Ho seguito le indicazioni per fare questi petali dal blog Heart, Hands, Home.
Per quelli che non conoscono l'inglese , troverete la traduzione subito sotto questo post.
Le rose di seta sono ideali per la creazione di questi piccoli petali di sapone che sono destinati ad essere utilizzati una sola volta.
Dopo che un petalo di sapone è stato utilizzato una sola volta, basta gettare via il pezzetto di seta rimasto.

Questi sono ottimi per piccoli regali o da usare come saponi per ospiti o semplicemente per presentare in un piattino "display" come un accento decorativo per il bagno.

Occorente:

~ Petali di rosa da rose di seta (Potete comprarli già tagliati, o tagliare i petali dei fiori da soli)
~ Sapone alla glicerina trasparente o altro sapone che sia trasparente.
~ Olio essenziale Profumato.

Tagliare 170 grammi di sapone in piccoli cubetti.

Mettere i pezzi di sapone in un contenitore per micro-onde e sciogliere. Tempo, circa 1 minuto.  

Mescolare con poche gocce di olio profumato, se lo si desidera.

Utilizzare delle pinzette per immergere i petali di rosa nel sapone fuso.

Lasciate sgocciolare  il sapone dal petalo e poi  posate il petalo su carta cerata o carta da forno ad asciugare.

Quando i petali sono asciutti, staccare dalla carta.

Confezionati in sacchetti di organza fanno una bellissima figura.

Game solution --- Soluzione al Gioco

This month's game is over and here is the result for this year's last game "Spot the difference"
In the picture above you can see which were the differences and I must say you all guessed them... Congratulations!
Below you can see which were the grids with the differences.
The first participant to guess correctly all five differences was Aliza. and so  she gains 1200 points in this game. All the other participants gained 1000 points each except Maria Luisa who guessed only 4  differences and so gained 800 points in this game.

Il gioco per questo mese è terminato ed ecco il risultato dell'ultimo gioco per questo anno.

Nell'immagine sopra ho evidenziato le differenze e devo congratularmi con voi per averle indovinate tutte.

Qui sotto ci sono i quadrati che corrispondono alle differenze.

2012 Dodecahedron Calendar

This year like the past years I am sharing a calendar with you. It is a 12 sided box calendar for the year  2012. If you would like to download it , click here.
To assemble:
Regular printer paper (80 g/m²) will be fine, but a heavier paper (100-120 g/m²) will result in a more sturdy calendar.
Do all folding after cutting.
The grey parts on the template are the tabs.
Glue the tabs matching the untabbed face last (November).

Quest'anno come gli altri anni passati vorrei condividere un calendario con voi. E' un calendario a forma di dodecaedro per l'anno 2012 in Inglese, non ho avuto abbastanza tempo per fare uno in Italiano ma ho trovato uno Italiano sul web per voi che potete scaricare cliccando qui.
Per confezionare  il calendario suggerisco l'uso di  una carta per stampante da 100-120gm  così il calendario è più solido.

Angel Christmas Tree Topper - Angelo per l'albero di Natale

This Christmas Tree Angel is my last crafted ornament for this Christmas.
Every Christmas finds me adding new ornaments to our family Christmas Tree and this year I decided to put an angel on the top of our tree instead of the usual glittering star... I always love a change but my son says he prefers the star ... anyway I win this time.
I made this out of a  golden party paper plate, I added two small crocheted doilies for wings , a wooden bead for the head, I ruffled the golden  thread from some golden cord for the hair and shaped a white chenille stem  for the halo.
Last touch ... a golden ribbon bow at the base of the head.
I like it ... and you?

Questo angelo è l'ultimo della serie di addobbi natalizi fatti da me per questo Natale.

Ogni Natale aggiungo nuovi addobbi al nostro albero e quest'anno ho deciso di mettere un angelo in cima all'albero al posto della solita stella ... mi piace cambiare  ma mio figlio preferisce la stella ... insomma vinco io questa volta.

Ho confezionato l'angelo usando un piatto di carta color oro, ho aggiunto due piccoli centrini fatti al uncinetto per le ali, una pallina di legno per la testa, ho disfatto un pezzo di cordoncino d'oro per i capelli e ho modellato un bastoncino di ciniglia per l'aureola. 
Ultimo tocco... un fiocco con nastro d'orato alla base della testa.
A me piace ... e a voi?

Weekend Shadows

This weekend's picture was taken during my last holiday in Malta this past October, the place is called Ta'Xbiex and I was having lunch at an open air restaurant with my sister and her husband when I snapped this picture. 
There's nothing artistic about this shadow ... I know, but I am running out of shadow pictures and I haven't had much time to go out looking for shadows in these days.
I think I will soon have to take a break from this weekly post.

La foto per questo fine settimana è stata scattata lo scorso Ottobre durante la mia vacanza a Malta, il posto si chiama Ta'Xbiex . L'ho scattata mentre pranzavo con mia sorella e suo marito in un ristorante al aperto. 
Non c'è niente di artistico in queste ombre ... lo so, ma ho esaurito tutte le mie "Shadow Photos" e non ho avuto molto tempo di uscire in cerca di ombre in questi giorni. 

Penso che molto presto dovrò prendermi una pausa da questi post settimanali.

Santa Belt Napkin Ring

Have you already decided how to set your table for Christmas Dinner and what accessories to use?
If you haven't thought about it yet here is a cute idea I am sharing to add a special touch to your table setting.
I made these Santa Belt napkin rings using strips of black felt and gold card stock.
I used black felt for the belt and gold coloured card stock for the buckle, ( I cut my buckles from golden  coloured paper party plates) .
You can also use any left over confectioner's golden trays... if you have these.

To make these napkin rings you must first download the buckle pattern here.
The rest is easy, use the pattern for the buckles and cut the black felt in strips , each strip should measure approx:
1¼ inches wide and 10½ inches long.
Slip the felt belt (strip) through the buckle holes and staple the shortest end as in the picture below.
Fold or roll your RED napkin (red napkins are suggested for this item) and wrap the belt around it.
Close by slipping the unstapled end of the belt through the buckle hole, just as you would any normal belt.

Voilà here's your Santa Belt Napkin Ring.

Avete già deciso come impostare la vostra tavola per il pranzo di Natale e quali accessori usare? 

Se non avete ancora pensato ecco un' idea carina che vorrei condividere con voi per aggiungere un tocco speciale alla vostra  tavola. 

Ho fatto questo porta tovagliolo a forma di cintura di Babbo Natale usando strisce di feltro nero e cartoncino color oro. 

Ho usato feltro ( panno lenci) nero per la cintura e cartoncino color oro, (I o ho tagliato la mia fibbia dorata da piatti di carta color oro). 
Potete anche utilizzare i  piccoli vassoi dorati della pasticceria  ... quelli per le  paste.

Per confezionare questi portatovaglioli dovete prima scaricare il modello per la fibbia qui. 

Il resto è facile, utilizzate il modello per le fibbie e tagliate il feltro nero a strisce, ogni striscia dovrebbe misurare circa: 

3cm di larghezza e 25cm di lunghezza.

Infilare il feltro (striscia) attraverso i fori della fibbia e pinzate l'estremità più corta, come nell'immagine qui sotto. 

Arrotolate  il tovagliolo ROSSO ( i tovaglioli rossi sono i più indicati per questo) e avvolgete la cintura intorno ad esso. 

Chiudere facendo scivolare l'altra estremità (non pinzata) del nastro attraverso il foro della fibbia, proprio come si farebbe con qualsiasi cintura normale.

Voilà ecco il vostro portatovagliolo "Cintura di Babbo Natale"

Weekend Shadows

This weekend's shadow picture was taken some time ago in my town's Baptistery. Unfortunately I haven't found any suitable quote or saying to accompany the photo this time.
La foto di questo fine settimana è  stata  scattata tempo fa nel Battistero della mia città. Sfortunatamente questa volta non ho trovato una citazione adatta per accompagnarla.

*Spot the Difference* Game --- Gioco, *Trova le Differenze*

Here we are in December and here is the last game for this year. I hope you liked these games even if some were difficult. This month's game is simple, it is about spotting the differences between the two images below.
I had to change the size of my blog layout to post the pictures for this game, otherwise they would have been too small, but I might get back to the previous layout  once the game is over.

The original image is the first top one (A) and the other one (B) is the one with the 5 differences.  
The last image is the same one with the differnces (B)  but I added a grid to help you with the answers, you just have to indicate the squares where you  find the differences, Example: A1, C1, etc..
 

Every difference guessed will gain 200 points.
Remember that you must give your answers in one comment. 

The first partecipant to guess all 5 differences  wins 1000  points + 200  points bonus.

There are 5 differences in 5 different squares. 

You must look carefully at the tiny details ... Iwill give you a hint: 

the differences are not found in the tree, so do not start counting the balls and candles   : )

The game will close on 17th December 2011.

 Eccoci arrivati a Dicembre ed ecco a voi l'ultimo gioco per questo anno. Spero che questi giochi vi sono piacuti anche se a volte qualche d'uno era un tantino difficile. Il gioco per questo mese è semplice, si tratta di trovare le differenze tra le due immagini qui sotto.
Ho dovuto cambiare la misura del layout del mio blog per postare le immagini per questo gioco altrimenti sarebbero stati troppo piccoli, ma forse tornerò al layout originale una volta finito il gioco.

La prima immagine qui sotto (A) è quella originale mentre nell'immagine dopo (B), ci sono le 5 differenze.
L'ultima immagine e la stessa immagine (B)  ma è stata divisa con una griglia per aiutarvi nelle risposte, dovrete soltanto indicare i quadrati dove troverete le differenze , Esempio : A1, C1, ecc.
 

Ogni differenza indovinata vince 200 punti.        

Ricordate che dovete dare le vostre risposte in un solo commento. 

Chi per primo indovinerà tutte 5 le differenze  vincerà 1000 punti + 200 punti bonus.

Ci sono 5 differenze in 5 quadrati differenti.

Dovete soltanto guardare bene i piccoli dettagli... vi do un aiutino:

le differenze non si trovano nell' albero perciò non mettetevi a contare le palline e le candele  : )
