Now that the flu is over and I'm feeling much better I have started crafting again. The first thing I wanted to do was one of the angels I saw on the book I received from my Voy friend Carmen.

All year round Tree.

My sister got this nice idea about keeping up a small Christmas tree all year round and transforming it into an "all year round" tree. The idea is to decorate it according to the seasonal holidays... tiny hearts for Valentines day... shamrocks and green bows for St.Patricks day...tiny choclate eggs for Easter and so on. It all depends on each one's imagination... it could be decorated for birthdays and anniversaries in the family with photos of the birthday girl or boy or other pictures for anniversaries. I think it's a very nice idea... what do you think?

Mia sorella ha avuto questa idea molto carina... tenere un alberello tutto l'anno, decorandolo secondo le feste... piccole cuoricini per San Valentino... quadrifogli e nastrini verdi per St. Patrick... ovette colorate e fiorellini per Pasqua e cosi via. Dipende dalla vostra fantasia... sarebbe carino usarlo anche per i compleanni ed anniversari decorandolo con delle fotografie dei festeggiati. Io penso che è una bellissima idea... cosa pensate?

Now to find a small christmas tree ... well, this will be a problem now that the stores have put away all the Christmas stuff, but I think it can be easily replaced by something like this in case you don't have a small one :

Potete creare i vostri hang tags dipingendoli o usando i clip art dal web. Io ho disegnato un orsetto con cuoricino per San Valentino e potete scaricare i tags qui.

Prints out 4 tags on an A4 sheet.

Angels for Collectors

Yesterday I received a surprise gift from a very special friend ... Carmen , a friend from the Voy Craftsayings forum and who lives in the USA.
She sent me this delightful book knowing I love all kinds of angels, "Angels for Collectors" by Jean Kievlan. It has 19 charming angel projects and I can't wait to get supplies to get started. Thank you Carmen... you're an angel!

Snow, Snow, Snow !

It's still snowing, we have already reached 30 cm.
Here are some pictures I took in our back yard and garden (the children's play area).
There's such a silence with no traffic on the roads .... a silence we are not used to anymore.



Nevica ancora, abbiamo già raggiunto i 30 cm.
Queste sono alcune foto che ho scattato nel nostro cortile e giardino ( zona giochi).
C'è un silenzio strano senza il solito traffico sulle strade.... un silenzio al quale non siamo più abituati.

Epiphany and the Legend of the Befana

Tommorrow, the 6th January, the Roman Catholic Church celebrates the feast of the Epiphany of Our Lord Jesus Christ. In many countries this feast is also called the feast of the Three Kings, although it has been taught that those three men who paid homage to the Holy Child were not kings but Magis or Wise Men from the East. It is also the 12th night and to many this means time to take the decorations down but to Italians this day is also the Feast of the "Befana". In the Italian tradition, this old lady called Befana is very much like Santa Claus; she delivers gifts and candies to children on the night between the 5th and 6th January. This tradition dates back to the 13th century. She is a very old lady dressed up in rags and carries a broom and though she may look like a witch , her story is a touching one.

Domani, 6 Gennaio, la Chiesa Cattolica celebra l' Epifania. In Inglese è anche conosciuta come la Festa dei Tre Re " Three Kings". Si sa che in realtà erano Magi o astronomi venuti dall'oriente. E' anche la dodicesima notte e per tanti significa tempo di mettere via tutti gli addobbi natalizi ma per gli Italiani è anche la Festa della Befana. Non entro in dettaglio su chi è la Befana perche voi amici Italiani la conoscete molto bene. Ho scritto il post sopra in Inglese per farla conoscere anche ai nostri amici Inglesi... anche se ad alcuni puo sembrare una strega; in realtà la sua storia è molto commovente. January - Gennaio

Here we are in the month named after the Roman God Janus, an appropriate personification of the start of the new year. This particular Roman God had two faces so that he could look ahead toward the future and back at the past at the same time. As we get rid of an old year and look forward to a new one, we all try to be a little like Janus. We know through experience what we did wrong and what we did right, and hope to do better this year. Some people make ambitious new year's resolutions; others just take a deep breath and hope for the best ... I am among these.



Eccoci nel mese che prende il suo nome dal dio romano Giano, una personificazione appropriata per l'inizio dell'anno nuovo. Questo particolare dio romano aveva due facce, così poteva guardare avanti nel futuro e indietro nel passato, allo stesso tempo. Tutti noi cerchiamo di fare un po' come Giano mentre ci liberiamo del vecchio anno e guardiamo avanti a quello che ci porterà quello nuovo. Sappiamo per esperienza cosa abbiamo fatto di bene e di male e speriamo di fare meglio nell'nuovo anno. Alcune persone fanno dei buoni propositi per il nuovo anno, a volte anche ambiziosi; altre invece si limitano a prendere un profondo sospiro, sperando per il meglio ... io sono tra queste.
