Leeks and Bacon Pie - Torta salata ai Porri e Pancetta.

Here's a new pie I tried today, it turned out great and ... it's all gone.

Ecco la nuova torta salata che ho fatto oggi, è riuscita benissimo e ... è già finita.

Ingredients for 4 persons:
250 g puff pastry (frozen)
2 leeks
150 g bacon
4 slices of sottilette cheese ( these can be replaced with 4 thin slices of chedar cheese)
20 g margerine
2 eggs
2 dl of fresh cream (optional)
( I did not put in the cream since my husband does not like it)

Thinly slice the leeks and cut the bacon in tiny pieces, next melt the margerine in a frying pan and put the leeks and bacon. Let it cook slowly till the leeks are tender.
In the meantime roll out the puffpastry and line an oven dish making sure the sides are about 3cm thick.
Put the slices of cheese on the pastry and next pour the bacon and leeks over the cheese. Finish off by covering all with the beaten eggs and cream.
I did not add any salt as the bacon is very salty.
Bake in a hot oven for about 35 - 50 minutes .
Serve cool.

Ingredienti per 4 persone:
250 g di pasta sfoglia surgelata
2 porri
150 g pancetta a dadini
4 fette di formaggio - sottilette.
20 g margarina
2 uova
2 dl di panna fresca ( facoltativa)
( Io non ho usato la panna perche non piace a mio marito)

Affettate sottilmente i porri e tagliate a dadini la pancetta, poi fate sciogliere la margarina in una padella e versatevi gli ingredienti preparati. Lasciate cuocere su fuoco basso finchè i porri non sono teneri.
Fate scongelare la pasta sfoglia, stendetela con il mattarello e foderate una teglia formando un bordo di 3 cm circa. Adagiate sopra la pasta le sottilette di formaggio, i porri e la pancetta e completate con le uova sbattute con la panna. Passate tutto in forno caldo per circa 35 - 50 minuti e servite la torta tiepida.

I have no new crafts to add in my blog lately but only some pictures which I took at yesterday's celebration of "Azzano in Flames" where my daughter, Sara , as well as many crafters had their own tiny stall with their handmade crafts on sale.

This time I have posted my Italian translation first, since it will interest mostly those who live in the district of Asti . My daughter Sara designed this poster and I wanted to share her art work with you.

Back to Country Painting.

It has a been a long while since I last used my paints and paint brush so I thought it was time I got down to doing some country painting. I admit I still have alot to learn about this and my greatest mistake is - lack of practice -. As everyone knows ...only practice makes perfect.
Here is my little creation.

E' da tanto tempo che non uso i colori e i pennelli così ho pensato che era ora di fare un pò di country painting. Ammetto che ho ancora molta da imparare e il mio più grosso errore è la mancanza di pratica. Come tutti sanno... solo la pratica rende perfetti.
Ecco la mia piccola creazione.

Baby's First Haircut

I was looking through my daughter's and my son's baby albums last night and found a tiny simple white envelope in each. Inside there was their very first lock of baby hair, so soft and still perfumed. I instantly got the idea to make a more appropriate envelope to hold these precious keepsakes and this morning I made these :


La scorsa notte guardavo gli album dei miei figli da bambini e in ognuno ho trovato una piccola busta bianca . Nell'interno c'era la prima ciocca di capelli, soffice e ancora profumata.

Button Necklace

I am one of those persons who collect buttons and beads, not as a hobby but just because I am convinced I will use them someday.
I have so many now that I just had to come up with some idea to use them.
I got the idea of making a necklace with them when I saw a button necklace in a shop just the other day, so I thought I could do that too, it didn't look so difficult and in fact it took me only an hour to make it.
Here's the result, it's my very first attempt.


Sono una di quelle persone che raccoglie bottoni e perline, non per hobby ma solo perchè sono convinta che un giorno mi serviranno.
Ne ho talmente tanti adesso che dovevo trovare qualche idea per usarli. Ho avuto l'idea di fare una collana quando ho visto una collana di bottoni in un negozio proprio l'altro giorno. Ho pensato che potevo farne una anche io, non sembrava difficile da fare e in effetti ci ho messo solo un'ora per farla.
Ecco il risultato, è il mio primo tentativo.
