Panic ! Where's Toddy?... Panico! Dov'è Toddy?

We nearly lost our cat, Toddy!
Yesterday evening, we were silently watching a film on the telly when I suddenly noticed Toddy had disappeared. We looked for him everywhere in the house but there was no sign of him. We realised to our dismay that he had fallen from the terrace, he probably lost his balance while chasing a fly or any tiny flying insect... this has always been his favorite sport and we were very careful to keep a watchful eye on him when he was doing this but yesterday we totally forgot to be alert and vigil.
PANIC ! My daughter and I ran out to look for him , he was not under the terrace. Our neighbour joined in the search and we looked for him all around our block for 3 hours but there was no sign of him anywhere. It was already dark and even if we had a torchlight we could not find him. Disappointed and very, very sad we went back home but you can immagine what a sleepless night that was for us. We all shed some tears even if we hoped that he would have come back in the morning.
This morning at dawn we were back out looking for him and calling his name ... still no sign of him. My daughter printed some leaflets with his picture to stick around in our area asking to be contacted in case someone had seen him. I helped her to stick them around and at the same time looked around again and again searching for him.

In the afternoon we thought of trying one more search, useless. We had nearly given up hope when we heard a faint miaow from a nearby building yard only a few yards from our block, my husband was the first to reach the spot and to find our Toddy. Poor kitty, he was very shaken and very dirty... but whole. It was strange that we had not found him there in the morning as we had searched the building yard twice. All's well that ends well! We were all overjoyed to have him back and he was happy too, even if very frightened. I gave him a bath as soon as possible and you can immagine what a mess... I was as wet as he was in the end... but happy! I hope I'll never have to repeat this experience.

It's amazing how precious our pets become and the tearful panic that ensues when they are lost.

Glad you found the little guy---but I don't envy you giving him a bath. Yikes. A cat may weigh only a few pounds but they can wreck havoc when doing something to them they do not like. :D

Cara Sue,
Camilla, Sgangy Boy, Bongo, Optalidon e Said li ho trovati morti in casa, probabilmente un'infarto.
Buon week-end
