"Santa" Wine Bottle Cover

It snowed most of the day and so I took advantage of this and spent most of the afternoon making this cute "Santa"  Wine Bottle Cover.   Winter days are the days I craft most, and you?

Christmas Angel Ornament

Only 3 days left to Christmas and I almost forgot to post this picture of one of the many little angel ornaments I made to give to some of my dearest friends. This picture was sent to me by one of these friends from the States, thanks Ann , the angel sure looks pretty on your tree.
I lost count of how many I made this year, many of these angels were also sold at our Local Parish Craft Sale. I have been making these for the past 4 years and they are always a favorite.

Lace Christmas Tree / Lamp

Here I am back with a new Christmas Decoration.
This is my little Lace Christmas Tree Lamp.
I set out to make a cone shaped Christmas tree at first, using some lace and felt, and when I finished it , I thought "why not put a light inside it?"
I used one of those red battery operated lights, but maybe a white light would look better. The most IMPORTANT thing is NOT TO USE CANDLE TEALIGHTS.
These would cause a fire so please DO NOT USE CANDLES.

I stiffened the lace over a cone shaped mould with  the usual mixture of Vinyl glue and water. I first covered the mould with stretch and seal Kitchen film , to avoid the lace from sticking to the cone. I left it to dry overnight.
I made the base with red felt ( you can use green too). I had to glue the felt to some card stock to have a steady base.
In the pictures below you can see a kind of step by step tutorial.
If you don't have a lamp never mind, it is pretty even without a light.

Musical Bird - Christmas Tree Ornament

It has become a custom in my house to have some new, handmade, tree ornaments every Christmas and this year here's the novelty I made.
It's a Musical Bird ornament made from cardboard and music sheets and with the addition of beads and a jingle bell.

Here's what you will need to make one:
A piece of cardboard ( the cover of a shoebox will do fine)
Some music sheets ( you can download and print some from the web as I did)
Some copper wire, it must not be too thick.( the type used for beading will do fine)
2 fake transparent glass beads
1 smaller  bead , gold colour.
1 large jingle bell, gold colour.
Glue in stick form.

Download the bird template,(see below), print it out to the size you desire.
Cut around the bird figure, now you have a template.
Place the template on the cardboard and with a pencil  trace around the figure and then cut out the figure you just traced on the cardboard.
Next fold a music sheet in two , you need two opposite bird figures from the music sheet.
Place the bird template on the sheet and trace around the template, when done, cut out the figure, you should now have two opposite bird figures cut out from the music sheet.
Glue these figures onto the cardboard, one on each side of the cardboard bird figure.  When it's dry, trim around  the edges for any irregularities.

Cut two lenghts from the copper wire, I cut about 3 inches  for the bottom part and 1½ inches for the loop on top.
Make a hole on the top part of the bird figure and another hole on the bottom part... see the pictures to get an idea.
Pass the shorter copper wire in the top hole and with small pliers make a loop.
Pass the longer copper wire through the jingle bell's hole first and secure one end tightly, next pass the rest of the wire through one of the larger fake glass beads, next through the smaller bead and again through the last large fake glass bead. Secure the end after passing it through the bottom hole on the bird figure.
That's it, now you have a little Christmas Musical Bird Ornament for your Christmas tree.
This project is taking part in the Christmas Linky party  by Topogina

Colla in stick.

This Christmas Tree Angel is my last crafted ornament for this Christmas.
Every Christmas finds me adding new ornaments to our family Christmas Tree and this year I decided to put an angel on the top of our tree instead of the usual glittering star... I always love a change but my son says he prefers the star ... anyway I win this time.
I made this out of a  golden party paper plate, I added two small crocheted doilies for wings , a wooden bead for the head, I ruffled the golden  thread from some golden cord for the hair and shaped a white chenille stem  for the halo.
Last touch ... a golden ribbon bow at the base of the head.
I like it ... and you?

A me piace ... e a voi?

Santa Belt Napkin Ring

Have you already decided how to set your table for Christmas Dinner and what accessories to use?
If you haven't thought about it yet here is a cute idea I am sharing to add a special touch to your table setting.
I made these Santa Belt napkin rings using strips of black felt and gold card stock.
I used black felt for the belt and gold coloured card stock for the buckle, ( I cut my buckles from golden  coloured paper party plates) .
You can also use any left over confectioner's golden trays... if you have these.

To make these napkin rings you must first download the buckle pattern here.
The rest is easy, use the pattern for the buckles and cut the black felt in strips , each strip should measure approx:
1¼ inches wide and 10½ inches long.
Slip the felt belt (strip) through the buckle holes and staple the shortest end as in the picture below.
Fold or roll your RED napkin (red napkins are suggested for this item) and wrap the belt around it.
Close by slipping the unstapled end of the belt through the buckle hole, just as you would any normal belt.

Voilà here's your Santa Belt Napkin Ring.

Felt Snowman Ornament

I am still making felt ornaments for my Christmas tree, here is the latest one in the series... a snowman!

It is totally hand sewn. I used a blanket stitch all around, I embroidered the eyes nose and mouth.  I used batting to fill the body so, if you make one ,  remember to leave a small opening at the base for the filling ...this will be sewn later after filling.
To download the pattern just click here.

E' totalmente cucito a mano.

" JOY " Cube Christmas Ornament

Hello friends!
Here I am getting ready for Christmas, and you?
As most of you know I have always shared some printable or craft  for Christmas on my blog and lately I have been wracking my brain to come up with something nice to share with you now that the Holiday Season is getting close and this is what I came up with.
A" Joy "cube ornament.
It is very simple to make, all you need is:
white printing paper,
a pair of scissors,
glue and brush,
glitter, ( you can use glitter glue if you prefer)
wide eyed needle,
12 inches of narrow red ribbon, half a centimeter wide
4 red wooden  beads( with holes) .... this is an optional choice.

In the following step by step pictures below you can see how I made the ornament.

Ciao Amiche!

Method:
You must first print and cut out the templates ( to download the free template click here).
With a needle, punch a hole in  the red dot on the blank sides of the cubes .
Fold the cubes in shape and glue the tabs in place.
Next spread some glue on the edges of the cube (Pics. 2 and 3), and dip the edges in the glitter (Pic. 4)
Do the same for all the sides of all 3 cubes.
Leave to dry.
Thread the wide eyed needle with the ribbon and with gentle pressure pass the ribbon through the previously punched hole in the "Y"  cube first, working  from the bottom towards the top...  follow with the "O" cube and finish with the "J" cube.
Take care not to put too much pressure on the paper cubes or you will ruin the shape, remember they are made of paper.  Finish off  with knotting a small loop at the top of the "J" cube. Arrange the distance between the cubes to your liking.
If you choose to have the cubes seperated by the wooden balls than all you have to do is thread the red ribbon through the beads before threading through the cube... in this case you must start with a wooden bead and then  proceed with the cubes.
Simple and easy ! I hope you like my little ornament.

The cubes before threading.

This is a resized image of the template.

HO- HO- HO Santa

I am still making Christmas ornies and here is my new HO HO HO Santa doorhanger. In the picture he is attached to a curtain, because the pictures I took of him on the door turned out too dark.
You can find the pattern for this project on: http://vivifelt-art.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
( you'll have to scroll down to find the pattern).
I made Santa's head using my own pattern and even the letters are different from the ones on the free pattern, I only borrowed the idea. Well, it seems the changes I made still give a good result.

(giu in fondo)
